‘That officer got out of the car with specific intent to do harm’

The Philadelphia Inquirer, 08/31/23: “The first few speakers at Thursday’s rally demanded Mark Dial be held accountable for shooting Eddie Irizarry, directing the crowd to raise their fists and chant, ‘Whose streets? Our streets!’ and ‘No justice, no peace.’

No more,’ one of the speakers shouted. ‘No more sweeping stories under the rug.’

One of the first speakers who addressed the crowd was Robert Saleem Holbrook. After extending his condolences to the family, he emphasized the hole Irizarry’s death has left in the community.

‘Dying in the United States is an expensive project,’ he said, and asked the community to help Irizarry’s family with funeral costs.

He went on to talk about Dial: “’hat officer got out of the car with specific intent to do harm.’
