Oct. 30: West Philly Public Safety Meeting

Wednesday, October 30, 2024 | 6:00 p.m.
Lucien E. Blackwell Library
125 S 52nd St., Philadelphia, PA

Do you have concerns about police violence in your community in Philadelphia? Are you worried about how policing might be changing under Mayor Parker’s administration or how police are responding to protests today? Do you have questions for the police?

Join us for a police accountability forum where you can ask questions of the Philadelphia Police Department (PPD). PPD leadership will present data about uses of force over the past 6 months in West Philly.

This is an opportunity for community members to hold police accountable and is a result of the settlement in Smith v. City of Philadelphia, the suit that challenged the excessive use of force in West Philly during the 2020 uprisings after the murder of George Floyd. Under the settlement terms, the City of Philadelphia has committed to meet every six months with the West Philly community to present data around PPD’s use of force and respond to questions and comments from residents.

Food and refreshments will be provided.
