Jan. 27: Make Phone Calls to Support Marie Scott’s Commutation

Phone-in to Pennsylvania state leadership
Join us and our allies from anywhere in Pennsylvania for this important event to help our client, Marie “Mechie” Scott.
Officials at the PA prison (SCI Muncy) where Mechie has been held for more than half a century have recommended her death by incarceration sentence be commuted so she can be released. She has done more than enough time for participating in a crime as a teenager, at age 19, that led to someone’s death — a death she did not cause or intend.
Due to Pennsylvanian’s draconian felony murder rule, Marie was automatically sentenced to life in prison without parole. Yet her codefendant who committed the murder was able to receive parole years ago because he was considered a juvenile at the time of the crime.
Aside from the injustice of her sentence, Ms. Scott is now 71 years old and fighting cancer. There is no purpose whatsoever to keeping her in prison a day longer.
You can help free her! Join us to make phone calls to support Mechie’s commutation.
