From March to June, the People’s Budget Office is hosing a series of free community workshops across Philadelphia. The workshops will provide an opportunity for residents to learn more about the City Budget process and speak about what they want to see funded.
This workshop will focus on the city’s policing budget. One of the biggest line items in the City Buget is funding for police and prisons. Public safety continues to be a major concern in our city, but criminalizing Black and brown Philadlephians makes us all less safe.
Join ALC and Amistad Law Project for this session to learn more about how the city is funneling hundreds of millions of dollars into prisons and police while crucial city services like public health, schools, parks and rec, and libraries continue to be underfunded. We will discuss how we can move our taxpayer dollars from the carceral system into community care.
