Crooked Ideas is bringing together Pittsburgh’s activist community, neighborhood organizers, and residents for a night of learning and discussion in response to community concerns about public safety.

The event will use the themes of the award-winning podcast Empire City: The Untold Story of the NYPD – power, policing & public safety – to connect local rapid-response activism to larger historical and systemic patterns.

Award-winning Empire City host and professor of journalism, Chenjerai Kumanyika, will be joined in conversation with history-making Congresswoman Summer Lee.

The event is free of charge; however, seating is limited and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

This isn’t just a panel — it’s a community listening session with art and storytelling woven together.
