Join in community to learn the ways the people are responding to Medicaid cuts and fighting to keep funding for community safety and mental health.
The entire behavioral health system is at risk because of federal cuts to Medicaid in 2027. There will be new requirements that will result in anywhere from 50,000 to 300,000 Philadelphians losing their benefits. We are already on an unsteady foundation with major behavioral health providers like West Philly’s oldest and largest provider, the Consortium, currently in financial crisis.
We need our city leadership to step up and protect Philadelphians. At this event, we will talk about what our city needs to fund to keep our communities safe. Our city budget must include:
- Increase in funding for our Mobile Crisis Teams, Philly’s community-based behavioral health support for emergencies
- $18 Million for an Emergency Healthcare Fund for Medicaid recipients and preparation for federal cuts
- Emergency funding to stabilize the Consortium mental health center
Our communities are resilient and, with the right amount of protection and investment, will be healthy and thriving. We can’t wait to be together, share a meal, and build relationships to better fight for ourselves and our neighbors.
