Jun. 8: Second Chances for 2nd-Degree Day of Action
May 18, 2026
Monday, June 8, 2026 | Lobbying: 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM | Press Conference: 12:30 – 1:30 PM
PA State Capitol Building, Main Rotunda
501 N 3rd St, Harrisburg, PA
On March 26, 2026, in a unanimous decision, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled in the case of Commonwealth v. Lee that a mandatory sentence of life without parole (death by incarceration) for 2nd-degree murder is unconstitutional.
Over 1,000 people in PA state prisons are now serving an unconstitutional sentence and the PA Supreme Court gave the Pennsylvania General Assembly 120 days to create a remedy for this unjust situation.
We must mobilize now to push the legislature to pass meaningful second-degree murder sentencing reform!
